Firefly Music Festival Poster

This is part of a project I completed for my Arts 222 - Intro to Graphic Design class at Liberty University.  For this project I was asked to make an event poster for an event of my choice.  I decided to create a poster for a Christian music festival. After some brainstorming and word lists, simply racking my brain for a summer - like theme, I came across the word firefly.  This word was my inspiration for the name of the music festival, as well as the designs to come.  I used a script font to represent the relaxing flow of summer and let the tail of the "y" continue into a path for the firefly.  I drew the firefly from my own design after combining some ideas from various firefly sketches I found on Pinterest.  As a child, I used to spend summer nights at my grandmothers lake house catching fireflies in mason jars with my cousins.  This was the inspiration for the music festival's location and the jar sketch at the bottom of my poster containing the festival's featured artists. As for the background, I used a gradient of blues, greens, and yellows to represent a brilliant summer sunset that would be enjoyed at this theoretical festival. Now, besides the inspiration, I made sure to include some key graphic design tools to best attract the eyes of my audience.  The boldness of the firefly logo at the top of the poster draws the audiences eye primarily and then allows the attention to fall to the date, location, and featured artists.  I also included repetition throughout my font choices to tie together the logo and the information on the poster.  I had an amazing time using my imagination to create this events poster.
This is the second part of my events poster project.  This part of the project gave me the chance to explore my personal choice of major, Strategic Communications and Social Media Management. I was asked to create three social media posts corresponding with my chosen event. I decided to take the three different aspects of my poster and dedicate a post to each of them.  First, I took the logo, being the main eye catching design on my project, and allowed that to become its own post.  Secondly, I chose to use the firefly as its own post.  I kept this one simple, only including the firefly, hoping it would draw people's curiosity and bring the viewers attention to the caption.  Finally, I used the jar sketch as a post to announce the festival's featured artists in a post.  I did not change any of the design for any of my three posts in hopes that the post would remind people of the poster they had seen, or visa versa.
